Is the internet the new market?

By the dawn of the internet or the world wide web we humans have grown more closer and connected than ever. We use it for almost everything to talking to our friends, buying something, reading articles, reading the new updates in the world and for business.

In the good old days the barter system was invented in which two people exchanged something that each other had. This had to be done physically where people had to meet each other in order to exchange things with each other. The concept of money in the form of trinkets such as coins and rare rocks emerged and the quantification and qualification of exchanging things became easier and more flexible.

However most of these exchanges had to happen physically where the two people had to meet up in a specific place to do business. Until today two people do meet physically to do business. For an example you go to your local market where you can buy food for a few notes of paper which we call money.

Today we are living in a time where significant and enormous amounts of transactions are done via the virtual market called the internet.

The internet has made business so easy and convenient. It has now connected many consumers to its sellers. If you are in one part of the world and you want something that is thousands of miles away from you, you can get it with just one click!

Many online marketplaces such as eBay, Amazon, Alibaba have made the dream of having a worldwide market that is available to each and everyone at your fingertips into a reality. Who'd ever thought that this would be a reality? You literally can buy almost anything available in the world.

Let's take a look at the stock market. Everyday thousands and millions of stocks are bought and sold over the internet and people make millions of money from it and many deals occur across the world. Aside from the stock market, billions of deals happen each day and money is exchanged. Huge sums of money are made and lost. All in all you can see how this global connection plays a significant role in building a country's economy. Most of the money that exists in the world today is virtual. Why? Ah, you can now imagine how enormous and colossal the amount of money that exists in the world! It all needs to be in a virtual form to ensure quick and easy transactions to occur. Else everyone will be moving truckloads of money here and there to make deals and humongous physical banks need to be built to hoard all that money!

With the invention of virtual payment methods such as PayPal and Payoneer deals became much easier and flexible and fast. Business became a fluent language to many people as "business" became incredibly easy to do. The business world grew at a rapid rate and it now holds a fluid and stupendous stature in the world.

We should be truly grateful and appreciate how long we have come as humans in terms of doing business. A century ago, we needed to get out of the house just to get something, but now we can get whatever we want by just a few clicks!

So the next time you click on the buy button, think of how a century ago we were never even close to doing such a thing of what you are doing now!
